Sister Societies

Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading – CIEP

The Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), formerly the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), is a non-profit body promoting excellence in English language editing. It sets and demonstrates editorial standards, and is a community, training hub and support network for editorial professionals – the people who work to make text accurate, clear and fit for purpose.

International Society of Managing and  Technical Editors – ISMTE

The International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) serves a unique niche within the academic, scientific, medical, technical and professional publishing industry — editorial office staff. Through our newsletter, discussion forum, online resources, and meetings, we connect you with others in the profession. We provide networking and training infrastructure, establish best practices, and study and report on editorial office practices.

Mediterranean Editors & Translators – MET

MET is an association of language professionals who work mainly with English text and translation. Members include both in-house and freelance language professionals, individuals and businesses, working with institutions, governments, corporations and NGOs.

Nordic Editors and Translators – NEaT

NEaT was established in 2014 to provide education, professional development and networking for editors and translators working in the English language in the Nordic countries and Baltic states. NEaT holds regular meetings, workshops and fora for training, development, discussion and networking.

Society of English-Native-Speaking Editors – SENSE

SENSE is the society of over 300 English-language professionals in the Netherlands, aimed at encouraging communication between societies and institutions involved in publishing commercial, technical and academic material in the English language.
