The European Association of Science Editors (EASE) is an internationally-oriented community from diverse backgrounds, with different linguistic traditions and professional experience who share an interest in science communication and editing.
Despite its name and its European roots, EASE welcomes members from every corner of the world. They can be found in 50 countries – from Australia to Venezuela by way of China, Russia and many more. EASE membership cuts across many disciplines and trades. Members work as: commissioning editors, editors-in-chief, academics, translators, publishers, web and multi-media staff, indexers, graphic designers, statistical editors, science and technical writers, authors’ editors, journalists, corporate communicators, technical illustrators, proofreaders and production personnel.
EASE offers the opportunity to stay abreast of trends in the rapidly-changing environment of scientific publishing, whether traditional or electronic. As an EASE member, you can sharpen your editing, writing and thinking skills; meet people with different backgrounds and experience, or deepen your understanding of significant issues and specific working tools. Finally, we have fun and enjoy learning from each other while upholding the highest standards.

Membership is for a calendar year, so sign up now!
EASE operates a Sponsored Members Scheme. The Scheme offers people with limited financial resources the opportunity to join EASE by having their subscription paid by an existing EASE member. This gives those who might otherwise not be able to justify the cost of membership a chance to experience at first hand the benefits the Association offers.
How to renew your membership
EASE membership runs for a calendar year, and renewal notices are sent atuomatically in early December. If you do not receive an email inviting you to renew your membership, it might be because the details that we hold for you are no longer up-to-date.
Please contact us if you have not received a reminder and would like to renew your membership.
ORCID was launched to help journals, publishers, indexing services, learned associations, funding organizations and research institutions to systematise information about their contributors. It is integrated with CrossRef, KUDOS and ISNI and imports publication lists from Scopus Author ID and ResearcherID. ORCID IDs increase the visibility and transferability of information.
These IDs are for everyone (including author’s editors, managing and technical editors) even if you do not do research or publish articles. EASE would like to encourage all of its members to register with ORCID and use their IDs.
