The European Association of Science Editors (EASE) is an internationally oriented community of individuals from diverse backgrounds, linguistic traditions and professional experience who share an interest in science communication and editing.
The 13th EASE Conference will take place at the School of Medicine in central Strasbourg in 2016. The main theme is “Scientific integrity: editors on the front line” along with many other hot topics.
It appears that misconduct in science is frequent, and that fraud is increasing. As Institutions have few or no policies to prevent or detect fraud, editors are often the first ones to be alerted. They receive information from very different sources. They have then to liaise with Institutions in order to make decisions (corrections or retractions), and it’s a challenge.
You are welcome to send proposals to the organizing committee: Hervé Maisonneuve, Liz Wager, Evelyne Decullier, Alison Clayson and Chris Sterken.
Past EASE conferences
The first EASE conference was held in 1982: see the list of past conferences, together with an EASE specialty - the overnight newsletter. Ranging from the scurrilous to quirky, these give a light-hearted view of each day's happenings at conferences down the years.
The content and quality of Certified Training Courses are endorsed by EASE (the Training Committee) and a member of the Council takes part in the course, or has a prominent role in the organisation. Participants receive a certificate.
Other seminars and workshops
EASE also organizes seminars and training workshops. The most recent was held in Barcelona in June 2012.
